I could really use some info on removing the rear springs off my 73 J10. They won't budge! I have tryed using everything from a prybar to a BFH. The one thing that I don't have access to is a torch. Does anyone have any info on how to do this?

Thanks

worse comes to worse, I have used a sawzall to cut the bolt on either side of the spring pack
be carefull not to cut anything you want to keep ! Once the bolt is cut on both sides the
bushing. with most of the bolt in it can be pressed out easily in a shop press.

you might be able to borrow a puller from a parts store, but I'm not sure if that will get the job done.

lube it up, wd40, pentrating oil, whatever you have, hammer and pry bar are the only things I can think of. I'll let someone else tell you about the torch bit. Last time I used a torch all of my spring mounts came off with the springs. :D but it was intentional.

I cut one of the front springs off my jeep with a cutting torche because it was rust welded in. The rears werent fun, i heated them with a map gas torche, then use a BFSH (big %^&*# slide hammer, 8lbs weight) to work it off the post. But you have box mount...so whole dif setup.

I thought 73 were post mount on the trucks too?

I had to use a floor jack and breaker bar against the weight of the jeep just to remove the nut, then I used an air chisel and a lot of WD40, was not fun, was not quick...good luck.

ooh hes doing it to his 73, thast right (he has a 83 as well ;p)

in that case, you only need to undo the rear eye of the rear spring, you dont have to undo the front eye of the rear spring.
