Does this dana 300 have a slip yoke?

Also is it worth it to swap this in place of my np219? I can get the passenger drop axle,(which I will need since the d-shaft output is passenger side) and this dana 300 for $400? Should I buy them and do the swap?

$400 for a D300???? They go for $200ish or less on eBay, even less sometimes, dunno full specs on this, does it have low gears or somethin?
No slip yoke there though.
Links fixed for ya, if they have spaces, they gotta be replaced with %20

ok, than thats worth 400 bucks. But if i recall scottie says you cant put a D300 into a FSJ because of some space reason or something. maybe he will speak up here.

Stuka,
If I remember correctly, Scotty was running very little lift at the time and had to use a TF999 to clear the front driveshaft but said that a TF727 with a 4" lift would allow the driveshaft to clear or clocking the Dana 300 will also work.
Will
I will be putting a 6in lift on so it should probably clear. What is clocking?
Is a dana 300 stronger than a np 219, I guess all I am trying to figure out is what is the point in doing this swap?
thanks for all the help

The Dana 300 is a very strong transfer case and can be even stronger with a tail shaft upgrade. Andrew told me his friend Peter ran a Dana 300 in his coilover sprung, twin Dana 60, 42" Swamper wearing Jeep for several years before breaking it. And if I remember correctly it broke the actual case and not any of the gears. Anyway, as far as clocking, it means that you use an adapter ring between the tranny and transfer case to rotate the case up or down for clearance.
Will
OK, correct me if i'm wrong, but clocking the D300 for driveshaft clearance would be moving it down, lessening the ground clearance under it, providing a nice thing to get caught on.

I just finished rebuilding mine (I got it off eBay for about 100-125) with the Tera Low kit. First time for me, but it probalby took about 4-5 hours including paint. Let me know if you need any help.
I plan on putting it behind a th400 I just also rebuilt with the TCI lower first gear. I used the Novak adapter - I won't be clocking it just yet. I'll be installing them along with a rusty's 6" kit this month and next. So we should be able to share notes on this as we go along.
Also will be installing new front and rear D44s.
I plan on running a D300 in my TJ and this guys site was a big help.

Another site I used during the rebuild

Cool those are great sites! I dont think I will get the tera low kit though cause I already have 4.56 gearing in my axle.

i ran a d300 for awhile in my GW. when i had it installed behind the 727,even a skinny driveshaft hit the big bulge in front of the pan  this was with no suspension lift up front at all. at the time,i estimated you could run it behind the 727 with a minimum of 4" of suspension lift,an extended pass side bumpstop, and youd still only be able to use the skinny shaft.
wasnt worth the hassle to me. 904s came behind v8s in chryser cars of the 60s and 70s,and can be beefed up to handle reasonable amouts of power. a stock 998 was fine behind my 258. with it,i had room for a 2" diameter shaft to tuck up nicely beside the tranny, and had a better 1st gear to boot smile.gif
i ran mine with a currie twin stick. you may have clearance issues with a stock shifter and the pass side seat.
it also occupies the same space as the catalytic converter,so be perpaired to do some exhaust work(or cobble it up with a piece of flexy pipe ;) )
the fine spline d20 yokes can be used front and rear if you need to run CV joints due to a big lift.
74 wag you are correct that reclockingh will lower the case some and decrease ground clearance underneath the t case, tho prolly not enuff to worry about, since the case site reasonably high up in the chassis. this option is exactly how IH got away with using the d300 and the d20 behind the 727 in scout ii's. friend of mine has a 727/d20 in his scout ii and with no lift, the skinny stick front shaft was close, but it worked smile.gif
i went to the d300 becasue i was tired of messing with aluminum chain drive cases after a 219 started slippig the chain,a 207 starterd popping out of low range in reverse, and a 208 that never did shift right  i have never regretted having my front diffy on the pass side
