just went wheelin and after being stuck for about two hours i figured id take my frustrations out on some mud. on my way back up the hill i was beatin the crap out of her and slid into a tree. problem is is, it hit the passenger side leaf spring and it looks to be busted. The front shackle bushing?, is all the way toward the rear, the rear shackle looks to be busted from being driven rearward. the whole axle is pushed to the rear on the passenger side so that it almost touches the fender. and finally the shock, sway bar, etc is all at a horrible angle towards the rear. now the question, what should i do first?

Does the shackle itself look to still be connected? I had something like this happen on my 75 Wag. I slammed the left rear down off a boulder and when she came down she busted the overload leaf. It cracked right in two where the eye pin goes through the spring. Well after wheeling a few more hours the spring worked its way out of the pack and since the springs were worn it let the tire hit the fender. Was not a good thing. I then looked at the other side because it looked to be sitting really low and discovered that the overload had cracked on that side as well. Yours is probably something else but thought I would share anyway.

looks like the main spring busted. that would be the spring that forms the eye for the bushing. will the front end line back up with new springs? the axle is pretty tweaked.

jeepfreak, did your axle line up o.k. after your tire hit the fender?

Yup everything lined right back up. Was yours the front axle or rear? Mine was the rear.

front axle on the passenger side. now all i gotta do is find a leaf spring. I have add a leafs now, so i'll have to bust those apart. i was kinda wondering about the top shock mount. also obviously a good time for poly bushings. makes me happy to know that it should line up again.
