Which Starter To Buy?

Guess my starter needs to be replaced. I have the EXACT same problems KYJ10 posted the other day. I just wondered if there was a preferred brand or model to buy before I go pick one up.

Any suggestions?

for most of my rigs parts i will use NAPA or carquest. they run more expensive but i would rather pay the extra cash now than have to replace a lifetime piece 4 times in two years from another big chain.

Sometimes it is better ( and cheeper) to rebuild the starter at your local alt / starter shop .. at least keeping the orgn housings if possable. In some instances I have noticed that a new starter will not line up properly due to the orginal case being modified slightly to fit the bell housing ... AT the factory. Its rare but not that rare.. it does happen. and in most cases it was least costly rebuilding than buying new. FYI
