She just started doing this last night. When accelerating, she will stall briefly, but its like hitting a brick wall. Then everything is fine. This is not from take off necessarily, but when cruising between 10 and 40 mph. I recently adjusted the carb per the Haynes manual. Yesterday conincedentally was the first day of fairly warm weather we have had since I made my adjustments. It also seems to happen after the engine is warm. It just did it on my way back from lunch twice. Any advice. I am dreading the drive home from work.
Start with the cheap/easy stuff...if you have a loose battery cable connection she'll cut out as revs/amps are applied.

I had somewhat of the same problem with my truck but not as bad, with mine, quite a few vacum lines were cracked and dry rotted. As soon as I changed them I was good to go. It doesn't hurt to take a look at them though.

Is your choke sticking on? that would do it. if so, hopefully your adjustment has screws already, on mine, i had to drill out rivits, and put in screws to adjust it. Just a thought, worth a try.

Did you adjust your timing?
I had a bad hesitation when I would hit the gas. Advancing the timing a notch took care of it.

Well, on the way home, I decided to try and induce the problem. It seems that it does happen both at idle and under low RPM acceleration. Its like an intermittent missfire. Smooth idle, then all of a sudden it will miss. If I give it gas and get past first gear, it seems fine. I suspect the carb needs some more tweaking or the timing. I have never messed with the timing, so I would rather start with the carb. Thoughts.

Check a couple of other things just to be sure. Could be a really bad power valve, or the EGR.

I thought about the power valve. I flooded it a couple of times while I was adjusting the carb and may have blown it. I really hope that's not it because I hate removing the carb. Last time I had to buy a whole new rebuild kit just to get the power valve.

You may be able to use a Holley power valve available at most parts houses.
