I just talked to a guy about a parts waggy. He claims that it is a 78 Waggy, with a 360, an automatic tranny and a part time tcase. He also claims that it has a 4 barrel intake.

Can anyone tell me what type of tcase might be in there?

Were 4bbl intakes offered that year and in that truck?

What tranny might he have (he says he thinks its a th400)?

Thanks

it sounds like a 360 with a 4 barral someone added(or maybe a 401), with a th400 and a quadratrac. At least that is what came in them.
Crawl under the driver's side and check the block right above the motor mount for either 360 or 401. Then look at the transmission pan and it will say GM Hydromatic. And the only transfercase offered was the quadratrac fulltime case.

the only Auto used by Jeep from 68-79 was a TH400. Only transfer case used from 74-79 was a full time Borg Warner(QT).

I believe the 4bbl was still available then.

It could be a Dana 20 also.

Was the Dana 20 the only part time tcase put on 78's behind an automatic?

The guy could have put a part time kit on the QT?
