I'm sure this has been covered and I've been going through lots of old posts... But on an 84 waggy whats it going to take to get 33's on it? The fenders are a bit rusty so I plan to trim them a bit. I'm not afraid to fab anything but would prefer not to get to crazy with this and do the soa and shackle flip. I kinda just want something to play with while my wrangler is parked for the winter.
Do you think a combination of slightly longer shackles + AAL + trimming on the front will get 33's to fit? For the rear I was thinking maybe flip the shackle but use the stock hole location, with some beefing up?
what are your thoughts?

Yeah, you can make that combo work, but be prepared to do a lot of trimming... Probably up to the wood trim...
No reason to spend a lot of money on just a winter rig...

Thats what I figured, trim right up to the wood and spend as little $$ as I can.

Along with your AAL's and shackles, you might want to consider a 2-3" body lift... Maybe rear blocks.

I had 35's with lots of cutting and a 3 inch body lift. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I hate webshots! Here is a pic with 35's, 3 inch body lift, lots of cutting.

Well, I thought something was strange about the Jeep. I was told it ran well but needed a new timing chain. That turned into it ran well until the timing chain broke. Sounds like a money pit to me, oh well i'll continue looking for my another one..

If you don't want to rub the tires on the body, with no trimming, 33's require 6" of lift (whether by a 6" suspension, or by body lift & suspension combo). Short of that, you'll need to cut.

33x 10.50 x15 BFG ATs fit rather well without a 6" lift and no trimming :), I believe that would still be true for a 4" lift without the 1"block out back and shackle lift up front... ymmv tho

I would rather cut than lift any day on something like this. I was planning on cutting at least up to the wood. But I'll have to keep looking for another waggy I think, I don't know how much damage a broken timing chain could have done to the motor.
