ok i have a 81 j10 i bought 2 years ago and finally got my 360 running right. and now i have some question about my drive train.
i have a new process gear transfer case 206 and a aluminum cast 4 speed transmission. what is the reliability of these components.

Had the same combo in an '82 J-10 w/360
Ok for highway use. Transmission was used in Mexico in F-250 trucks.
Subject to shifting tower wear. Mine used to jump out of third gear when descending a hill under compression, even from new.
I have heard all sorts of horror stories, such as breaking main shafts, but if you try, you can break most anything.
