The mounting holes are not drilled because every rig is going to be a little different so it is nice to be able to know that this will fit your inner fenders / core support / outer core support, etc.

I will call the manufacturer tomorrow and get the rest of the specs on it.

Thanks.

I tried to contact the manufacturer but they weren't in today. I grabbed my calipers but the battery in it was dead. Just eyeballing it, I would say it is about 1/8".

The test set of these have been on a vehicle in the midwest through the snow and cold winter for over a year and they didn't crack a bit.

The fiberglass is not a cheap blown in fiberglass, it is a hand laid fiberglass which is far stronger than the blown in method.

Thanks!

How are these different from the units that Zack is working on?

TPICherokee
11-14-2008, 03:25 PM
Didn't know that Zack was doing any..

Just found his post on the vendors forum and I don't know for sure but it looks like his have the lower splash piece separate where ours are molded in one unit. I can't tell but maybe his flares are bolt on as well?

Yeah, what a crock..

The only one stop shop that that us FSJ'ers have does NOT deserve any special treatment...

Seriously, who really cares about new bad @ss parts for these hunks-o-junk??

Now, go hide in the vendor section where you belong...

Just read the Vendor Rules, the For Sale rules and the General rules. Unable to find anything about a three day rule. Perhaps you can tell me where to look...or is it an unwritten rule?

Couldn'thave said it better myself, Mr. Texan.

Nothin' to do with the good guys at BJs. It has to do with the rules posted on this site. If it's written down, no issues. The rules as written for this section are very specific about limiting vendor access to the site and specifically state that they are to do business in the vendor section. Just follow the rules, that's all. Simple.

Eric isn't vendor so that's not his motivation if that's the implication here. Probably just concerned when things that appear to be off topic get bumped off the forum and then when the rules above state:

"NO COMMERCIAL ENTITIES may post advertisements to any forum without consent from the International Full Size Jeep Association forum management. However, commercial vendors who specialize in Full Size Jeep related products are permitted to post advertisements in the Vendor Forum."

...it does make one wonder. If you say you have three days of priveledge that's possibly something y'all worked out. But I think you can maybe see his point. I'm just saying....

QUIT ALL THIS FREAKING ARGUING!! For my .02 cents worth it's a new product that the majority of W/T owners needs so a little bending of the rules is not gonna kill anyone. For the vendors BJ's, Zack, and Gary (sorry if I forgot someone) they bust their azz to make available the parts that we desperately need. There are vendors that have new products that only contribute to this board when that new product is available. These guys are here everyday commenting and helping fellow members so a little special treatment for these folks for their hard work should not only be tolerated but appreciated.

The mods recognized that new parts generate a lot of interest. Our goal is to find a balance between letting folks know there is new stuff out there and keeping the General FSJ Discussion section from being 'full' of vendors threads trying to sell their stuff.

So yes, if you have something new post it up but let's be smart about it. No one cares if you now sell used motor oil or have perfected muffler bearings.

We will leave it up in General Discussion for about three days. If one gets left up for four days we are not 'playing favorites'. We don't have automated tools that will move a thread in exactly 72 hours. If one seems to die on its own we may not move it simply because we don't see it anymore. We don't have a staff of people who are paid to read every thread and determine its proper disposition.

If you have a vendor thread we will move it over to the vendor section. If you don't it will get moved to 'for sale'. And we might mess up on that sometimes but it's because we are human and do this part time.

A followup...

Regular for sale items will either get deleted or moved to the 'for sale' section.

Used tires for sale? It goes in the 'For Sale' section.
Never used holley Truck avenger for sale? It goes in the 'For Sale' section.
Rare factory rust option? It goes in the 'For Sale' section.

OK, so there is a secret rule. First of all you might want to place this in the rules section. Secondly, you just opened the door for big operations like 4WD parts to list anything FSJ related in the General Section...or does the "rule" only apply to certain vendors. Finally, you're supporting commercial business, which is specifically outside the original intent of the guidelines. There's a place for commercial advertising, and it's in the vendor section.

Towtruck (and everyone). No. Do not post your dash pad in general section. It will get deleted. Put it in the for sale section.

Towtruck (and everyone). If you have some new part that you will be producing and would like to annnounce it, post it up. If you have a 'one of' something that you created then it goes in the for sale section.

Towtruck thanks for your concern about the 'big' vendors. We will take care of it if it happens.

You sure are being weird... Would you have had an issue if I went over to BJ's, saw the flares, took pics, and posted them up to let everyone know about the cool new item that I saw? Nope, I doubt it... So, whats the difference?

I'm about due for another trip over there, so maybe I will have to poke around with my camera to save him the effort.. :D

HEY!! WHO LOOKS AT THE VENDOR SECTION ANYWAY??..THAT POOR GARY, IS STUCK AT THE BOTTOM,ALONG WITH ZACKS LAST YEARS HOLIDAY SALE!!...

Yeah, no kidding... Just like the For Sale stickies...

Getting items in those two sections, are sure fire ways to stop sales...

Was for me at least...

Personally, I am VERY excited to see these flares, and am glad that Brent posted them up in the general section. Us wide track guys have been dreaming of replacement flares for years, and bam, here they are.

Who knows how long it would have taken for me to see them in the vendors section. Probably until someone bought them, installed them, and posted it in the General or Tech section....

No problem with a non-commercial board member doing whatever they like within the rules. I do have a problem with commercial vendors using the site. It's outside the charter and it's prone to abuse and favoritism. The Vendor section was a big concession. Now it's one by one approval by a committee of moderators. Dollars to donuts these fenders can be had from several other sources...possibly for better prices. They're probably made in China for pennies on the dollar. You want to add to the national debt, feel free. But do you want all of the potential vendors advertising here? Guess I could suggest to them that they do so. Fair is fair.

This is a slippery slope, which is why the original guidelines/rules read like they do.

These are made here in the USA, by hand, by American folks (figured I'd clear that up before conspiracy theories start being spewed). I have heard that zack is having someone make some for him, but know nothing more about them. I can say, however, they aren't being made by our guy.

Also, regarding 4wparts, Home Depot, Exxon, or any other example you want to use, it was stated that "commercial vendors who specialize in Full Size Jeep related products"......that narrows it down to about 4 or 5 places. Just my interpretation. Go Dawgs.

Do you think you can make steel rear sportside fenders next? I'd like to have something that matches my front fenders over time.

Towtruck must be either a disgruntled BJ's customer or failed the police academy.

You're bringing brand new parts to the table I say a few days exposure here is ok. Like DMNTXN said, wait till all the pics come in when the fenders are installed on various rides. Who's going to complain about overexposure then?
