Does anybody run headers? If so what brand and part number? Where did you get your headers and what did you give for them? Looking to do a dual exhaust conversion on a 76 j10 with a 360 4bbl figure i might as well go all out. Your thoughts or comments. Anyways thanks in advance.

I have Heddmans on mine. You can get them from Summit for about $100 They are thin though and not great quality long lasting headers.

I ordered a set of Hooker headers from them that are thicker and has the ceramic coating on them. They have been back ordered since Aug. 2 and are about $350 They oughta last a very long time.

I put a vote in for Doug Thorley, although I haven't checked to see that they sell them for the 360 (I'm sure they do). Their flanges are darn near 1/2" thick and the tube is very thick as well. I had done a lot of checking for headers for the 440 in my motorhome and I got the same answer every time, for quality and especially durability Thorley every time.

Just a suggestion,

P.J.

All I can say is, I have Headman on mine and it's a constant struggle to keep them from leaking! I like the look of hooker, they look like high quality. Don't know much about any other brand. I would not use Headman again.

I put the Doug Thorley Tri Y's on my '76 Waggie. I don't think there is a better set of headers made. That's why they run more than Hooker or Heddman. Headers in general do increase the underhood temperature and do require periodic gasket replacement. I would reccomend that you put your money elsewhere as they don't really increase power below 3500 rpm, which is about 1000 rpm above the normal operating range for most of us 80+% of the time. I have cast manifolds with 2 1/4" pipe off the manifolds to a Y, then 2 1/2" to the Flowmaster, glasspack and tailpipe on my '70 Waggie. Good low-end grunt with minimal noise.
