Finally getting around to rebuilding it. Been putting it off for a long time, and then saved my money for a long time. But I finally have everything I need.
As with everything else I do, I dont half Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley it. I got a COMPLETE rebuild kit. Its not one of the cheap ebay kits with no name parts. This kit has all the correct parts and correct part number timkin bearings. The NV4500 uses special timkin bearings that are upgraded versions of their regular bearings, and have slightly diffrent part numbers. I also got all the correct roller bearings that go under the gears, new syncro springs and struts, all bearing spacers and thrust washers, snap rings and correct lined syncro rings. I also added a new 5th gear nut, the wrench for the nut, and a special bearing installer. All neatly laid out on the bench.

The nifty syncros. The one on the right is one of the 3 peice ones for 1st and 2nd gear. The one on the left is the type that 3-5 have.

Hope to have it completed in a few days. I am just working on it in a little bit at a time in my spare time. No reason to get in a rush!

Got the main case cleaned up, new countershaft gears on and set the endplay. Factory specs is .002-.006 endplay. Hit the nail right on the head my 2nd try. Exactly .002 endplay! Hopefully the endplay for the mainshaft is as easy.

Congradulations on the rebuild but could you move the case over about 12" to the left? Thanks.

Been kinda takeing my time but I have finally got some work done.

Got the mainshaft assembled and into the main case, and set the endplay. Best I could get on this was .003. But factory specs is .002-.006, so I sould be fine :)

Finally 99% finished. All I have to do is carry it to work and borrow one of their torque wrenches and torque the 5th gear nut to 325ft-lbs!

And last but not least, no pictures yet. I am working on a custom t-case adapter and some mods to the tailhousing. Once those parts are back from the machiene shop, I will post up.
