Starter continues to spin after start

It sounds like my starter is continuing to try and start the engine even after it has started. Not until I gun it a bit will it stop. Why is this happening and how do I make it stop?

well sometimes my key gets stuck on the on position and i have to turn it back. I think your starter solenoid is havin some problems and may need to be replaced.

Yah...solenoid. 'Course, there's another option--that it's binding on the flywheel, but it's not very likely.

I would say try replacing the solenoid. They don't cost too much are are pretty easy to do.
