so I subscribed to newspaperarchive.com today. of corse I typed 'super wagoneer' . I found more then one reference to a super wagoneer I've never heard of before. as far as I knew, they were only avalible in 4 colors. white, blue, orange and yellow. I saw a few dealership ads for a "coral pink with charcol interior". has anyone heard of or seen such a wagoneer? reading real newspapers from 66 that reference it and seeing jeeps like the surrey make me believe it must have existed. if I can figure out how to post the ads I will.

For some reason a Coral pink Super Wagoneer really strikes a bell. Pretty sure I've seen a pic of one online somewhere.
Here we go.

Thisis a Super, right? Might be a repaint though.

Isn't there ranch somewhere in Texas or CO (preeety sure its texas) that paints all their jeeps pink? And gives tours in em? Saw it on tv couple years ago and swore I've seen a thread here on em.

I've not seen one in pink in person. That must have been a popular color back in 1960s. Not sure about 1980s because I've not seen Grand Wagoneer factory colored in pink. I don't know if they sold much in that color. Seems like a strange color for a "macho" type of vehicle if you want my opinion.

Jeep had a coral pink color called 'Indian Ceramic' that they used on the Tuxedo Park CJ-5A and CJ-6A. That would be the right era, and a similar premium trim level in the two lines.

Yes the "coral pink" should really be called Indian Ceramic.
So we have 4 Super colors:
Indian Ceramic
Empire Blue
Prairie Gold
Glacier White
Any other color will be a repaint.
Interiors were only in blue, red, or black.

I am pretty sure I saw a posting on here (or maybe it was somewhere else?) of a Super down in Mexico that was Indian Ceramic. If I recall, it was not in wonderful shape but was still in use. Maybe I am in error..
I would love to find a blue one!

Of all the Supers I know or have seen, the Indian Ceramic and Glacier White were the most common.

Yeah, it's orangey like salmon. Whether it's orange or pink depends on your personal color definitions, I think. The coral used as a gemstone is orangey too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_(color) When it fades, Indian Ceramic looks really pink pink though.

SuperKen's "indian ceramic" 66 Superwag. It is a bit pinkish "sorry Ken" but salmon or corral is a better suggestion
In fact Isuzu has a color that is very close.

Oh you had to go and do that, didn't ya? You just HAD to. For 30-34k they will restore it for me! I hope that it comes with a well-drawn up set of divorce papers! I have 2 non-functional ones here to deal with first. Although, I would happily trade. I bet I have over $12k in this dang GW and the paint/body isn't even done yet!

The color is INDEED the same a salmon eggs, and Izuzu does have a color called Coral Reef from 1993. This Coral Reef will be the type I repaint mine in as the OE ditszler# does not bring up anything at the paint shop. :(

these 4 colors are for the Type1 Supers (327V8)
Iv seen one IC Super, but it was in parts, Iv seen only one other Wag in IC in Sacto. Iv seen 2 EBs 2 GWs, Iv never seen a PG one.
Yellow was introduced for the Type2 Supers (350V8)
However...my Type1 Super, dealer brochures dont EVEN SHOW PG as a color!!!

I've never seen a PG one either, except in a vintage magazine advertisement.
I did some digging in my books and online last night and if my hunch is right, there were really 7 colors used. It looks like a different white, yellow, and blue were used and the IC was dropped in '69.

Man, that thing saw too many winters..
But, if it is still sitting where ever you took the pics, I would be interested in the aluminum honeycomb trim stuff and various other badges, etc.
I have this dream of making my 88 GW look like a modern Super. Don't know that it will ever happen, but a guy has to have dreams.
Since they announce the factory I work at is shutting down in January, I guess I will be holding off on the body and interior for now..but I might still like some parts. :D
