Well I was going to use the front fenders off of a m715 but the guy I was going to buy them off of just stopped retruning emails

So now I am trying to get some ideas for a new front clip. My core support is mostly rusted up and has many hole. They fender are rust are the fender flairs so I am thinking of just makeing a new front clip but I was hopeing to find some ideas for a starting point.

This would be on a 78 2 door waggy. If that matters

SO who has done one or seen one? Any pic would be great

Find a less rusty front clip from TN,GA. or AL. Anything from an FSJ would work, it is all the same sheet metal.

Right guys??

well unless I can get a set of m715 fenders I do not want the stock fenders.

I will be running a 38 to 42 in tire when it is all said and done so I will be needing more room for them

You could remove the flares on the WT fenders you spoke of and fab some flares similar to 715 but leave the opening with straight lines. Just a thought...

would like to do that but I think the fenders are too rusted to do that with. But thanks for the idea.

Keep them comeing smile.gif

If you look at the m715 fenders, they are really just cut civilian fenders with a round fender flare. I would start by cutting the opening you want from a different fender, and then fabbing up your own flare. Just my $.02.

I know the feeling, jeepguzzi, about the computer, that is. At least its not your jeep that is acting up!

I guess ideas for the fenders would all depend on what it is that you want it to look like, I mean, do you want it to look like an m715, or do you just want something that looks cool, or do you just want to clear larger tires???

combination of the above. smile.gif

his core support is junk,so he needs to swap it or rebuild it. he doesnt neccesarily want it to look like an m715,just wants it to look cool while providing room for a bigger radiator, more room for 40" tires with minimal lift.

he wasnts to do somethin alittle different than just swapping on stock sheet metal.

IMO,tho, it doesnt get much cooler than an m715 flare and rhino grill :D

if it were me,id keep some of the outr fender for cosmetics, make all the stuff to mount batteries, etc. to,and ditch the inner fenders. make new covers to keep the mud out

you could either make flairs out of 1x3 or so square tubing, connecting your bumper and nerf bar,or you could make an m715 style flair. if you keep enuff of the original core support, you could mount a rhino grill to it and it would be pretty sharp, however you make the fenders nad flairs.

if you end up with none of the original core support, you can just make the grill out of expanded metal.

these are the kind of ideas hes after. simply replacing with stock sheetmetal wouldnt be near as much fun as mkin somethin ;) anyone else got some funky, different ideas? smile.gif

I had missed the fact that he needed a whole new core support. Its really hard for me to think of any helpful ideas w/o doing it myself. If you wanted to go for a totally custom look, why don't you take off the front clip, and then install the tires. After that, you could fabricate something to clear the tires and at the same time get a visual idea of what you are working with. Just a thought, although I know its probably not very helpful.

That is what I am going to do but I was trying to see who might have done it before just so I would have some ideas going into the project
