First, how important are the splash shield parts of the front disc backing plates? When I changed the pads on mine I discovered that both sides had broken welds and on one side the bolt that attaches to the knuckle broke off while attempting to remove it,so I decided to remove both of them. Will cause any problems?

Also,I am wondering if anyone has the part #s for rear disc conversions.I changed my rear shoes yesterday and I'm pretty much in need of new drums which are $64.99 each at the zone.I'm thinking that for a few more $'s I'll swap for discs.I know it uses chevy front rotors.I'd like to use some caddy calipers so that I can have a parking brake but I don't know what year to look for. Also the chevy backing plate for the 90's truck that was talked about in the past is "not available"at the zone.Who knows why.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. The wife has even ok'd it so the sooner the better.

Thanks,James

It will increase the chance of getting dirt and grit 0n the dis cface, which may cause pre-mature wear.

Cant help ya on the rear disc, my cherokee still has drums on all 4's :D

I got a new rear drum at the Zone a couple of months ago for like 30 bucks. Are you sure they looked up the right part number because $64.99 is more than twice what I paid there?

80 bucks is what they are around here. You can get super super chea p ones, but those are the chinese ones that are generally out of round and need to be turned from the start.

Napa and car quest here are 82 and 84 bucks each respectively.

I'm just moving it to the top so that someone might be able to help with the rear disc parts list.
