But I think I now know why. Ive been tearing the engine down the last few days. I planned on replacing cam, fixing burnt valves. I got the timing cover off, and the cam gear was all chewed up again. As I slid the cam out, the front bearing was in about 100 slithered pieces. I think this is why it kept chewing these gears up, cause that end of the cam had lots of play in it. The bearing was really not even there. Anyway, Ive decided to pull the block and go ahead with the full rebuild$$$$$$ Dennis
