Exhaust systems

It has come to the point now that I need to replace my original exhaust sytem (83 wag). Does anyone have any recommendations on who makes a good system and who doesn't. Is this something I can install myself (I don't weld). Any advice or recommendations is most appreciated.

How much of a "system"? Just from the cat/muffler? Or from the exhaust manifold all the way down through?

If you dont weld, then the best that you can do is use clamps to hold them down, which I can almost guarantee you will cause leaks, and other problems down the road.

As far as hanging the exhaust, sure you can do almost all of that work yourself, and then I would suggest that you take your rig to an exhaust shop, and have them weld your work into place.

But, the cost of a new pro installed exhaust system is not very much, Under $200 for a nice 2.5" exhaust system, to a 3" tip, FlowMaster setup, which is what I did.

I have been throughly happy with my FlowMaster setup, it gives good power, and with a 50 series muffler, a nice grumble, not too loud, but definately sounds good...

I have found That I hate exhaust systems and to buy the stock parts and put them on is more expensive than having it done.

yah I was going to do it myself also...
but after all said and done.. you have 20, 30 dollars in addapters clamps etc,hangers, 40-50 for average muffler...Major POA underneath the rig...Plus ? money on the pipe itself
gonna cost probably around 100+ out of pocket, just for parts ...

and it will leak!

so I'm takin ' mine in to get it done this weekend...
it worth 40/50 extra not to be hassled with the exhaust system...Exhaust work is not fun work, I don't care what anybody says!!!!

I have decided that I am going buy a 2.5" Flowmaster system and pay some one to install it. I don't want to deal with the leaks! I was looking at getting the system from summit racing? Has anyone had good or bad luck with these guys? Is there anywhere else I should be looking?
