What gears came in the Wagoneer's with the 2 barrel 360? Is there a difference if the tranny is different? I have 3.31's in my 83, and I need to know what other waggies i can get an axle out of without having to regear.

There are 2.72's which is most common or 3.31's with the factory tow package.

My 86 has a "B" stamped on the housing. According to the axle specs here on this site that means 3.15:1. It has the factory tow package and an AMC20 rear axle. I haven't actually checked it though except for the stamped housing.

depends ont he year. 60-70's 3.54's where the most common. for the 80's 2.73 and 3.31's where the only options.

Regardless of year or equipment, you should be able to read the ratio tags if they aren't gone or too crusty (take a small wire brush). Either it'll have the "3.31" stamped there, or it'll have tooth counts, or both. Tooth counts are 43-13 (ring-pinion) for both Dana44's and for AMC20's. AMC20 will have stamp code "B" or "BB" (double being equipped with trac-loc limited slip) for 3.31 ratio.

So if I have a non limited slip rear how hard is it to add limited slip, or lockers? Do i change out the entire gear assembly or is it a carridge change. Never been into a rear diff before. What costs are to be expected?

depends if you want a full carrier type locker or on that just replaces the spiders gears. The later is rather easy to install the former requires the carrier and ring gear to be seperated and the locker and ring gear coupled together and then install back into housing and setting up the gears agian.
