Well now that I got my new fender flares and I'm ready for the paint job, I wanted to see if anybody knows what is the best fuel tank to use for the rear spare area before I spray her pretty again.
I read in the tech library that a dodge charger or ford bronco can be used, but are there other options that would fit right? I have no problems with welding up some brackets and using a tank that has all the openings in the right place for a quick install. (The filler is on the drivers side)

Any suggestions as to what to look for at the boneyard?

33 gallon mid 80's Ford Bronco tanks measure 15" deep and fit in the rear... I have one...

the 25 Gallon in the bronco's are 12" deep and same length and width as the 33 gallon above

filler is in the right spot

Check my site

Cool! That's what I needed!! Did you use angle iron for the brackets and weld them to the frame? And do the fuel pickup and sending unit work with the same voltage and connections?

I used 2" angle iron and welded it to the frame... make sure you grab the straps, skid plate with the tank.

As for the sending unit...I modified the FSJ sending unit and attached it to the Bronco tank pickup tube to register properly by manipulating the float. Just this.. took about 2 hours....

You can always buy a replacement gage matching the ohms of the ford sending unit... I didn't want to... :D

Also the inlet for the fuel will have to be modified... check my site....
