If I remember right, a new 79 J-10 I looked at, pretty pimped out for the time, they wanted 9k of it. (or 5K + my 77 J-10) Decided my 77 J-10 was just fine. On a side note I saw the truck 6 months later (I worked in a service station at the time) it was just beat to ****. (I would not have traded strieght up at that point)
I think my 77 Cherokee was listed at $6500, I would guess a 1979 Wagoneer would have been in the 12K->14K range.

We had an 87/88 Grand Wag Ltd and I know we paid 24k for it.

Pretty sure historically the FSJ's were high ticket items.

The limited would have been the most expensive model with all the leather and electric doodads. Probably close to Charlie's Cherokee price or a little more.

Here is Krista's 77 Wag modestly dressed out:

My 88 GW sold for just over $28K in Charlotte, NC in 1987.

My '79 Cherokee was $8,550. I would think a Wag Limited would be in the 11-13k range maybe, I suppose a regular Wag would be in the 8-10k range. Need more sales receipts.

Ha ha ha the AM/FM stereo radio option cost twice as much as the 401 option!! Now, a clapped out 401 core will cost $500 and you can do an in dash CD player for $100!

thanks for the replys. so its safe to say that my wag cost about 1/2 again as much as a loaded blazer or bronco or about the same as a caddy?
the reason i asked this in the first place is the guys at work like to make fun of my old wag, i just tell them that it was a rich persons car in 79 and wanted some info to back it up.
i also tell them to stick with there hondas and toys that there not manly enough to drive a wag anyway

Wow I cant belive some of ya still have the window stickers, how cool. What a diff in price. Here in Michigan your plates go by the orig purchase price, so my plates are like nearly 100 bucks. According to the secretary of state's "chart" my 88 was 28 grand new. (not sure how true that is but its what Mich uses to rip you off on plates)

Even the 5 slot wheels were more than twice the cost of the 401 option. We got the Wag when it had only 59K on it in 2000 and it had factory steel wheels and era correct hub caps. We are thinking the dealer may have done a swap on the lot before it was sold.

Here's one for a Super Wagoneer.
IF anybody wants to make one that looks like
this. (without the patina) I have a Excel speadsheet to do that.

Here is what one of my 79 Scout II's cost new in 1979. Is it just me or was $10k a heck of allot of money for a truck back then? I have another 79 that was optioned out even more and it was $14k new.
