Do I need this ?

mounted to my coil bracket is a cylinder shape item it has a wire comming out of it and it ties into the wire attached to the top of the coil (positive side) I thought this was a condensor (just looked like one i actually had no idea) well I busted the wire going to the condensor and napa did not have the part.. I finally broght it to auto zone (I was getting deperate okay ) and the dirty kid behind the counter told me it was just a noise supressor and if I didnt have an expensive stereo in my truck that I wouldnt even need it.. Is this True ?

I can't beleive these being hard to find. I been throwing them away. Well most of them I may have a couple laying around Postage will get it to you but I would think you should be able to get one new or from your local junkyard cheap ;)

You can buy noise filters from radio shack cheap to expensive 10 to 50 clams depending on how much of a load you want to put on them, but they go on the radio instead of the ignition ground. I use them on my VHF equipment, long-term exposure to those freqs cause damage to spendy equipment. Otherwise MSD does offer the regular igniton filters. Hope that helps.

I think that a regular ignition capacitor would work if you can't find one. You might try an auto parts store that isn't a chain, if you can find one. Preferably one that has a counter man that was around before computers. Belive it or not, back in the dark ages, people in parts stores actually knew something about cars. :eek: I'm showing my age now :D :D
