Aw come on, you know what I mean... I heard escort/mustang seats are close I don't know if the tracks will match up to the holes in the floor.
Thanks

Many varieties of NEW CJ (JCW, Leon Rosser, etc.) seats are direct swaps...I think

If the power seats are on the same pedistals (brackets) as the manual ones then Mustang or Escort seats will ALMOST bolt right up using the Ford seat tracks. It is a minor matter of drilling a hole or 2 and making a slot out of a couple of holes. If the brackets on power seats are different, then get a set of manual seat brackets and bolt them in first.
i put a set of buckets seats out of a 1985 mustang had to drill two holes fit right in
Im sure I could get just bout any seat to fit in my wag.. with a drill as mentioned above.. Just not certin wether or not I would be able to see over the dash.. My electric seat rails and guides appear to be much higher than average vehicle..

Luckily I am 6'5" I could probably see fine sitting on the floor ;)

As I have never had a FSJ new enough for power seats, I do not know if the brackets are the same as the ones for the manual seats. While the manual seat brackets look real high (something like 6" or so on the frt of the outside bracket)they are the right height for the mustang/escort seats. If you are willing to do a little more work, 98 Lincoln Town car leather buckets will fit on escort sliders and bolt to the manual brackets. I have them in my Wag and have Taurus power seats in my CJ5 using the power sliders from the Taurus on 4" "C" channel bolted to the floor with a reinforcement plate under the floor. With a little work you can put almost any seat in the Wags.

Has anyone tried using either Bestop or Steel Horse replacement seats designed for use in "smaller" Jeeps? [CJ/XJ/TJ] I need new seats badly, [I don't, but my wife DOES!!! shrug] and was wondering if anyone has tried using the seats offered by these companies. Any thoughts?

I know that David Allen used Bestop CJ seats in his chopped Cherokee, but I don't know if he had to move the tracks or anythimg else.

Hey Jake_S...Will you let me know how the Steelhorse seats fit? My wife has been a real sport about my FSJ, but the seats bother her.

retro93,
The Steel Horse seats are a direct bolt-in (no holes to drill) with the non-electric stock mounts. They are intended for the CJ so when you order them that's what you ask for. They do not have an application for our vehicles. I have a set in my 78 Chero and have been very happy with them. The only issue is that they do not have the release that allows them to fold forward, so getting into the back seat in a 2 door is not so easy. They do recline and fold forward a little but not enough to do much good. I like the way they hold you in when bouncing along on rough roads. I have heard that the Bestop are possibly a better quality, but haven't seen them in person. I don't know where in SoCal you are, but if your near Murrieta you can come by and check mine out before you make the commitment

I'd vote for the Mustang seats, I had an 85 myself and those seats were one of the best things about it. 5 way adjustable and comfortable as heck.

If you're looking for new seats, I believe Corbeau Seats (http://www.corbeau.com/) hsa an application for FSJ's. Let's see.....here's some more links:Mastercraft Seats (http://www.mastercraftseats.com/), Monaco Seats (http://www.monacousa.com/), and last (and best) Beard Seats (http://www.beardseats.com/).
Whew, did'nt know I had that many seat links saved.
Beard also makes custom sized bench seats, so you could get a bench to match your new front seats. :D

Does anyone know if CJ highback buckets will fit into a J-truck without sliding up way too far, or hitting the rear of the cab? I know they'll mount right up, but this is my concern.
