Turned over my motor tonight, but it still won't fire up. :p

I have a new front timing cover seal, new timing chain and as you can see, a shiny new water pump, too! The harmonic balancer is also new, even though it doesn't really look like it.

Bearings looked real nice, no copper showing and the crank surfaces are nice and smooth.

I got all my other gaskets, but forgot the rear main seal, so I'll button up the bottom end on Sunday.

It was weird using the two screwdrivers method (recommended in the Haynes manual) to remove the timing gears, but sure enough, it worked.

If you are going to run it that way, I suggest a couple extra quarts of oil and fuel injection... ;)

dont forget a new front seal for the trans

Will be working on that today. Remember, that was the whole reason for pulling this motor! LOL!

Take off that flexplate, and you'll have mucho more room-o to get at the rear main seal. ;)

Too late. Already replaced. It's loads easier when the motor is upside down instead of you. I didn't miss oil dripping on my head.

And the oil pan installation is MUCH easier without having to weave the oil pan through the maze of y-pipe, axle and anti-sway bar.

I got it set down on the motor mounts this evening and will hopefully get it mated to the transmission next weekend. And YES, I aligned the flexplate with the torque converter.

I left the passenger side exhaust manifold off during the engine install. This helped save my heater housing. And I have to get the studs replaced on it so I'll drop it off @ the shop on Monday.

No pix. Y'all know what a Jeep looks like when it's being worked on.
