i was driving to work and with no warning it just stalled. i pulled over to looked into the carb and gas was pumping couldn't really tell about spark. after a few cranks it started up then stalled again. a few more cranks it started but wanted to stall and i just floored the pedal maybe some dirt in carb or something was alright afterwards.

after work going home it did again. a few more cranks and off i went for it to happen 5 min later.

i already replaced fuel filter, gas pump, plugs and wires, checked for vacum leaks, and cracks in the dis cap. what else am i missing. i checked the pump and it seemed like it wasn't pumping enough so i replaced it. after changing everything it still stalls. thanks

Is you gas tank vented well? When it stalls pull the cap off the tank and see if it sucks air in. If it does it's not venting right and is building up a vaccum that's keeping if from pumping gas.

If I'm not mistaken there should be two big lines coming out of the tank, one is the filler and the other is the vent, I think. Also the cap should be vented. It seems like a return line would help too. Anybody confirm/deny any of this?

Check the distributor pickup coil.

Is it cutting out quick like if you turned the key off? If so I'd guess ign module or pickup coil. If it's a slow stumble where slapping the gas pedal sorta helps I'd guess crap in the fuel line/system. Either rust inside the lines flaking off or more likely in the tank at the fuel pickup. I'd start with pulling the top of the carb off and look in the float bowl for crud. If there's rust/crap in there it's from your lines or the tank. Also could just be moisture/water in there. Wouldn't hurt to drop a couple bottles of gas line anti-freeze in there to suck up the water or disconnect the pump and squirt some fuel in a jar and look for water.

the edelbrock carb 1405 and intake are about 8 months old. i've looked in the carb and it's clean. with no warning it just cuts off. it started to stumble and giving it gas didn't work. just started making pinging and knocking sounds. how do you check the module?

easiest is to swap in a known good one. there was a thread a few days ago about a tester at napa. the one off the shelf failed but the boneyard one passed
