what can i use from a '72 J-2000 for my 73' J-4000
both are 360 engines?
power brakes?
power steering?
anything else?

If you've got power brakes to swap over then go for it. My 73 J4000 didn't come with those. The big difference is wheelbase, so you have different rear driveshafts, different taillights (I think your 72 has the round ones, correct? I could be wrong), and your 73 has a double-wall bed - this might be the year where the tailgate changed a little.
