Quadratrac. That Cherokee is actually a 79 then. The 80 and newer FSJs have left hand differential on the front with New Process transfer case.

Since it's a overseas edition, it could still be an 80. If it's one that someone brought from the states, then it would be a 79.

Yeah, yeah - there may be a hand full of 79 models out there that got tagged as 80s, true... :grumble: But in my world, this is a 79. ;)
Dan, you may as well get a NOS Quadratrac from that guy in Ohio if you want one that you can keep running on your side of the big pond.

Not rare, there were a lot of them sold. Rebuilding a broken one could be difficult if you don't have several decent used units to scrounge parts from. The new unit would be a good deal, esp. for someone with one of these vehicles outside the USA.

I would say a good working Quadratrac is rare. Maybe I am wrong about that but it is true that it can take several cases to have enough good internal parts to build a good one. There were tons of them sold in Jeeps between 73 and 79 though.

I see more quad units in 70s trucks than any other combo for sale, Id say the manuals change hands alot less often
