My driverside vent window won't stay open.

Anyone know how I can get some friction back in my vent window pivots?

TIA

Put some salt water on them and let them rust!

There's actually a spring underneath the pin on the bottom of the window, and they rust/break like so many other tiny things. I've got a pair of vent window assemblies in the garage waiting to be installed (have the same problem on my driver's side). I'll take a picture of them in the morning and post it, so you can seen what I'm talking about.

The other cause for this is the lower-rod on the window rusting off entirely. In that case, there's no need to replace the spring (it's lying intact in the bottom of your doorpanel, if the bottom of your doorpanel hasn't rusted out). Only solution is to replace the vent window and frame itself (#53 on the to-do list for my Wagoneer...)

I just happen to have a wing window unit out in the storage shed. The handle was broken off in an atempted theft before I bought "Big Grin". I'm pretty sure that I have that spring in the little box of "stuff I took off and might need some day".

If any of you need the frame w/spring, you can have it for the shipping cost.

Thanks for the offer Greggorio. I don't know if I'll get to open the door up this weekend. Got work on the 'cuda to finish this weekend. But will get to it soon, 'cause I have to put the d/s speaker in anyway...

Ralph, is Yazahx right? you're offering to sell? I thought they were going on your vehicle, like BobBarry and now me - its on the Todo list http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Well, I finally went back to the d/s door today. What I found was that the pin is no longer attached window bottom. I can't think of a good fix.

Can the vent window be removed, or does the whole frame have to come out? Looked to me like it might come out from the frame.
