I've been having lots of trouble with my jeep recently (who hasn't) but thought I'd relay this little story to you all.

2 days ago I changed my starter, since then I've been hearing an odd metallic banging noise at times during driving; much like a fan hitting a shroud. I don't have a shroud, so that was ruled out quickly, I checked everything I could, and didn't see anything that I could pinpoint as the perpetrator of the noise, so I just drove it that way.

Yesterday I got a new exhaust put on it and the mechanics said I should take it down to the next corner and have that noise troubleshooted. I took it down there and they looked for a few minutes and couldn't figure it out either, then looked at the back of the engine and discovered all the bolts holding the tranny onto it had fallen out somehow, and the tranny was just barely hanging on!!!!

I left it there overnight for the guy to fix ($40), I should be picking it up around lunch time today.

Lucky thing it didnt destroy something in the process! at minimum, I figured that would have eaten the front seal on the transmission.

I had a Chevy Malibu that split the tranny crossmember . That was fun.

Yah I'd ask how the seals are?

You can't realy 'check' a front pump seal. If it leaks, it's bad.
