I have converted my '84 GW from a 229 to a 208 and now I need to get a set of manual hubs for the front axle.

What brand of Hubs is better & where is the cheapest place to get them? If you know the part numbers for them, that would be great!!

Thanks for all who answered questions during the conversion. Best thing I ever did!!

I've had the best luck with Warn Premiums. You can get the p/n from their web site at warn.com.
I'm curious as to what you did with the vacuum axle. Did you replave the 2 pc axle and coupler with a one piece or just activate the vac motor and leave the axle shaft engaged?

Yup Warn Premiums as -joe has mentioned are a very good choice. Be sure you have engaged the front axle lock as it will cause a seriuos amount of wear if manual hubs are installed and the front OEM disconect axle is not LOCKED permanently. ;)

-joe,

I was going to try and make a manual shift instead of a vac. shift, but could not see a way, so I just tacked welded the slider assembly on the inside. Thats why I need the man. hubs.

the warn hubs are good but i prefer spicer hubs i have a all steel set and the warn use some alluminum parts that tend to break under high tourque

I have warn premium and love them. I have never seen them break. Something else usually goes first. I got mine at www.crawltech.com (http://www.crawltech.com) . Tell them I sent you from the ifsja website and they will cut you a deal.

Warn hubs are great hubs. I have pounded rigs these hubs have been on. Never a hub failure. Believe me I drive em HARD. I have shatered T-cases and broke axle joints, never a hub. There are many good brands of hubs but Warn are my #1 choice. I have Warns on my J20 Plow truck I beat this truck every winter plowing and in the summer hauling gravel and firewood taking it where no roads exist. At about $70.00 it is a very good HUB. ;)
