Finally got everything back in working order and made it to the track last night. Only got in two runs but had a lot of fun. Took it really easy off the line on the first pass and ran 14.0541 @ 96.14 with a 2.18 second 60-foot time. That's already .4 better than my old best! :) Launched a little harder on the second pass and snagged a 13.8591 @ 96.17 with a 2.00 second 60' time. I didn't have a helmet so I couldn't make a third pass. With a little harder launch I think it could have run somewhere in the mid 13's. I guess we'll see next weekend (if I can get a helmet by then).

And all my tools, cleaning supplies, tank of gas, etc. I've only emptied it out once to run, too much work for less than a hundred pounds. Weighed 4180 last night with me in it. And only 2220 on the front wheels. That's 53/47 weight distribution!
I was intending on running the woodgrain last night but I forgot it at the house. I went to slap it on and it wasn't in the back of the wagon. Next time it's going on for sure.

those are some great #'s Ghinmi. there is a guy that runs in woodburn or. he has a 57 chevy on a wagoneer chassis with quadratrac running mid 9's. I don't think he's AMC anymore tho.

High 13's is VERY impressive for a FSJ. Most 60's musclecars in stock trim weren't that fast

Shoot, 3/4 tank of gas will weigh 100 lbs alone. How much do your tools weigh? Cleaning supplies? The weight can add up in a hurry there if you are talking about aerosols or liquids, they will add weight in a hurry... I bet the rear seat weighs between 50-75 lbs too. Ive never weighed one, but Ive carried them, and they are heavy... Do you have your spare under there? If so, thats another 50-60 lbs...
What does all that total? Probably closer to 200 lbs or more. Thats a full two tenths in the 1/4... A free two tenths for that matter. Its hard to beat free speed.
Well, thats my 2cents anyway...
Nice run though!!! I LOVE to see Jeeps at the track!!

I figured I had this coming after your weight post on sf. :) I know I'm leaving a lot on the table with the weight. To tell you the truth, I was running the extra weight for a very good reason. You'll see later. ;)
Next week I'll be back there with a helmet and hopefully get some better times. The second run hooked good so I should be able to give it a little more off the line next time. I think I can pull a 13.5 out of this setup with some more tuning and a good launch.
As it sits right now I'm leaving a lot on the table with the extra weight, tiny cam, small carb, unported intake, etc. With a cam/carb swap and ported intake I should be somewhere in the 12s assuming it hooks up.

Now it's time for some juice. I had a '67 Chevy short bed that ran 11.80's w/ a 200hp shot back in the mid '90s.

I shift at 6000 and drive through the traps at around 5000. Ideally I'd run a 4.88 gear but 4.10 is a happy medium for the street. Thinking of downsizing to a 26" tire which should bump a few hundred rpm at the traps.

13.80's in a Wagoneer? Man you have one of the all time great sleepers there. That is sweet, no one would ever expect it. That is better than my 4.7, 5 speed short cab, short bed Dakota with the Magnum V6 emblems on it.

Just got back from the track again. The track prep wasn't as good as last week but it still went a little bit quicker.
Best time was 13.76 @ 96.54 with a 1.985 60' time
Best 60' was 1.951
Ran 12 times and only got beat twice, both by Mustangs (modded GT and modded GT500).
Kill list:
Subaru WRX
Hornet with sbc 350  twice
Mid 90's chevy truck
Newer chevy truck
Mustangs
ricers
And here's some videos. Ignore my brother's annoying friend.
First run vs GT500 Mustang. This video shows how well the Jeep launches off the line. And how sweet GT500's are.

Second run vs the Hornet. Worst time of the night because I spun the tires. You can tell by the way it leaves.

Your my current hero, only cause your making something so slow go so fast.
Maybe I should take mine to the local track and see what it will run. I bet I coud do a 16 or 17 second pass in the 1/8th. Maybe a little faster if I put it on the trailer and pull it behind the yukon, HA.

There is something incredibly right about the video with the Wagoneer and the Hornet... especially when the Wagoneer wins.

Ran it again last night. Didn't run all that well but some tinkering with the carb got it back to 13.7s again. I decided to make another jet change for the last run and that really woke it up. Pulled hard to the 1000' when the fuel pump couldn't keep up and the engine shut off. Coasted the rest of the way to a 13.66 @ 94.28, another new best time. Judging by how much better it was running I think it would have run 13.4 on a full pass. Hopefully I'll have it fixed back up by next week and pull off some new best times.

Dang!!!! I am jealous back in the 80s my 100K mile 302 powered 67 Mustang would barely pull 17.5s in the quarter. Sounds like it is time for a bigger fuel line and electric pump!!
