I'm in the process of reassembling the Jeep after my recent paint job (pics to come soon). I noticed there were several places that used a sealant between the two pieces. I'm not talking about the "hard" body sealant, this was more like a rubbery caulk to seal air coming through (at the dash to the firewall, at the vent covers, etc) Anybody know a good product to use in these places?

I used 3M body and seam sealer--it's tan. Seems to work well.

I used 3M brand "Strip-Calk" part # 08568 which comes in a box of 60 1-foot strips when I bolted the fenders and radiator mount back onto the body tub on my CJ. I does a good job of stopping muddy water, etc., from running thru these mating points and out onto the outside of the body. I just used a plastic body filler spreader to cut the excess off that squeezed out when I bolted it down. The strips are about 3/8" dia.
I also have a roll of the same stuff about 1" wide x 3/16" thick. Don't know where I got it.

Forgot to mention -- don't try to use this caulk if it's much bigger than the application calls for. The parts won't pull/bolt together well and could even warp the body parts. It doesn't give very easily. Use the appropriate size for your application. I happened to find the small diameter stuff was just right for my fenders/rad. support.
