well......here's my story. Been a big reader here, but this is my first post. I have an 88 grand with the 360. Bought it in jan. 02. Great shape, ran good, etc.so I figured $1000., how could I go wrong, well now i know. New long block, edelbrock carb and manifold, disributor, air pump, high flow fuel pump, alternater, water pump, and various other small parts. Hours of cursing, and laying on my back. And to think, all that was really needed was the catalytic. Well, i did need a new block, but the rest was to try to cure a sluggish beast. Idled great, good to 50, then nothing much above that. After reading a post about the affects of a clogged cat, I figured what the hell, lets pull the pipies and see if she roars, and low and behold I have a 5000 pound road rocket. well, not rocket, but you get the picture. So I'm here to tell all, IF YOU CAN"T GET IT TO RUN RIGHT< PULL THE PIPES AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS...........CAUSE IT":S CHEAPER THAN BUYING THE STUFF YOU THINK THAT IT COULD BE. Thanks for letting me ramble... love the site, and it's a great help.............Jacko Jdawes8935@aol.com :D

Oh I understand about a clogged cat.Mine would run fine for days then not hardly run, blowing black smoke.I'd shut her off, crank back up she'd run fine.Found the cat to be the problem the strats was broken .I guess it went because the PO had no belt on the air pump.Very critical with a carb vehicle.

One thing I miss about not having the cat anymore is that I used to be able to throw it in Neutral, stomp the gas, and blow thick black smoke at people who pushed my road rage button.

Very effective!
