To day is the worst day of my life I rear ended a OCTA bus on the 91 E freeway and totaled my jeep.

Are you ok? You can always get another Jeep.

at least the jeep took the total and not you.

i hope you came out ok, and that you will be able to find another jeep to replace it.

I walked away but now every thing is starting to titen up. The 3" body lift cased the bolts to rip out of the body and every thing went forward about 10" the edrive train moved forward 4" and the rear drive shaft pulled out on front drive shaft. the left rear tire got sliced by the body and the winch cracked pritty bad engine put the fan inside the radiator. My left arm hite the vent windo bar and my right arm broke the steering wheel lap belts worked as intended.

Glad you're ok, sorry about your Jeep. I lost a 67 mustang to a pole once. Never forgot how that feels. Took me a long time to "love" a vehicle again.

She was a completed full restore from rust bucket to show room clean. I got stupid and hit some ice during a hard corner way to fast for conditions.

Glad to see you're well enough to type. Make sure you get checked out. Any pix of the bus?

We're a sick lot and always want to see lots of pix!

Think of it this way...if it was a bus, it likely was insured by the city of whatever private carrier and you'll end up with a few $$s. That is, assuming it wasn't your fault....

Either way, sucks man...condolences.

Wow, sorry to hear of this loss but glad no serious injury. My sister rear ended a city bus in Ft. Lauderdale with her CJ7. It was a pretty black 83 Laredo and bought the farm but she was not hurt. That FSJ tank probably kept you from serious injury.

Generally, when you rearend anything vehicle wise you are at fault...most states have a law that you get cited for failure to avoid, control accident...that is the way AZ rolls anyway.....

same here unless there are witnesses saying it pulled out in front of you.

Glad you are ok. the 2 to 3 days after an accident are the worst. Get lots of rest.

yup.

the top of the accident page on my Progressive online help system said "all rear end collisions are at fault accidents."

Man, I'm glad you're ok, and sorry that your Wagoneer got smashed.

HOWEVER - this is not the first time that we've seen a body-lifted Wagoneer in a wreck where the body has separated from the frame. I know that a body lift can solve a lot of clearance problems, but after seeing these wrecks, I would NEVER EVER add body lift to a FSJ. Spend the money and buy a real lift, cut the fenders :sawzall:, whatever, but don't lift the body above the frame.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear about that, but I'm glad you're okay. At least a jeep is replaceable, you're not!

Sorry to hear about your wag. I am glad you came out ok. And yeah, 2-3 days afterwards always sucks. As as stated above, this is not the first time a body lift has caused the body to separate from frame. So for anybody considering a body lift, DONT DO IT!

yup.

the top of the accident page on my Progressive online help system said "all rear end collisions are at fault accidents." "at fault" means that you will take at least some percentage of the blame for the accident - but doesn't mean all the blame has to fall on you. Both people can be at fault in an accident. Different state law and individual insurance companies can differ - but generally it's "comparative negligence" ... for example, person A was 25% responsible, person B 75%. So, even if you rear ended someone, if you can show that they did something really stupid that made it hard to avoid, you won't be totally on the hook.

Sorry about your wag, but glad you're OK.

Yes, the lift can facilitate shear in an accident. Another member here completely separated the body from the frame in a rollover. His waggy looked as if it had been through some powerful machinery, but he stepped out of the thing unscathed. Maybe he'll see this...
