View Full Version : Elroy's Last Ride...
The 1970 1414X took its final ride today.
I pulled the cheesegrater, marker lights and tail lights before we loaded it with scrap metal.
2620 lbs... $131... Thanks Elroy, you'll live on in the Super Chief.

did you cut the roof like that to remove a factory sun-roof?

I cut the roof like that to provide a patch panel to fill in the factory sunroof in the 1989 that is being recreated to look like the 1970.

Was the side chrome salvaged? Can't wait to see your 'Super' Cherokee creation.
The best thing about sending Elroy to the crusher is that I won't post any more photos that make it look better than it was. :banghead:
Every single piece of stainless was dented.
I bought that thing off ebay and it turned out to be 40% rust, 20% Bondo and 40% ebay BS.

The body shop owner came to my business today and said he wasn't leaving until I committed to a color... so it's gonna be Copperhead and black.
The front axle is at the 4x4 shop being rebuilt into a passenger side drop.
The engine is 85% assembled and hopefully by next Monday will be in the chassis with the tranny and transfer, custom gas tank and I'll start plumbing.
One of these days...
