i pulled the rear driveshaft to replace the busted yoke and ujoints. is there anything i should look for? should i be able to squeeze and pull the two parts together?

Better bring it to a driveshaft specialist. But if it broke because of your lift, it will probably do it again unless you fix the angle of the pinion yoke by correctly shimming the axle.

the lift has been on a while. from what it looked like there was one ujoint strap bolt that was on the ground undamaged. i think it came loose and then there was too much strain the other ones. only one broke and the other too were very loose.

You might try to get a yoke that takes u-bolts instead of straps, only thing I can add.

i looked into the ubolts. from the threads i read it said i had to drill out the yoke threads. i was not to comfortable with that. i might try it next time but i need to getmy rig running with extreme haste.

just jet new straps for now and make sure the yolk on the tcase isn't missing any chunks of metal. I don't think the lift was your problem...straps just suck. I would go ubolts but if you need it movin reight away just get new straps.

I am about to pull both of my driveshafts today. I agree with with Carrotman said. For the small amount of $$$ a driveshaft specialist charges I am taking my shafts there.

i had to get a used yoke. the shaft took out the corner of the original. i am away at school and this podunk town has no driveshaft specific shops. i replaced the straps and ujoints with all dana spicer pieces. i hope everything will be fine.
