I was looking at the 14 bolt spring perches at ruff stuff specailties. They have three holes in them and they say you can lengthen your wheelbase a little bit. But my questions is would moving your rear axle back lik an inch help anything?

I got my perches from Six States. 11.73 for the pair.

It could mean the difference of having to buy a new drive shaft and or getting the wheels centered in the wheel wells

thats what I was thinking. the driveshaft thing. The perches I bought from Six States have three holes in them too.

They are there for the folks that have the extra length driveshafts and wheel wells large enough for that. You could push the axle back but then you could also cut up the tire on the sheet metal and have your driveshaft pull apart at full droop.

Tad's perches are that way. When I put in my D60 I moved it to the back hole, 1" it came out to. I then obviously had to trim the back and the front to make them clear the tires equally.

Nothing a driveshaft and sawzall can't fix if you don't mind the look of the wheel not being centered.

well thats what I was wondering. Like if I moved it back to the back hole, then maybe I wont have to get the rear shaft shortened. but not sure yet since the perches arent ont he ale yet.

moving the rear axle would look silly with the widetrack flares IMO. narrowtrack guys can do it and just cut a little more. moving the front axle forward wouldn't be too bad though.

There's some good discussion on this here in the Off-Road section between myself, others and Bob Barry.
Will not work well in a stock or full high-steer setup since the drag link and tie rod can not cross over eachother.
Looks to work fine for folks running cross-over steering in SOA setups.
I would not mind an extra 1" or to up front, but I'm not moving a steering box to do it.
I think ful-hydro folks get to put it just about anyplace they want but I have not looked real closely at those setups.

on my widetrack after doing the tts shackle flip and setting it down on the 14b i needed to move the axle back 1" in order to center it up in the fender wells, it was a noticible difference between directly on top of the axle and one inch back.
