I know that the wags are infamous for rotting the frame in the left rear underneath the skid plate, and mine has fallen prey to this problem.I have read about a frame repair kit for these from a place called auto rust technicians in Cranston R.i., HAS ANYONE USED THIS KIT BEFORE?wHAT IS THE PRICE?I have been on their website, but they don,t have the kit for these trucks listed.Any input would be appreciated.

From what I've heard, there kits are 150-175 bucks. Sounds pretty high to me for justa few pieces of steel. I've got to do mine soon also. What I did was take some pieces of frame rail from a truck that we replaced the frame. I'll just cut these to fit and then graft them in. A person can also make cardboard templates and then buy scrap steel plate and angle iron and fix it that way.Worst part is getting the fuel tank out.

get a hold of some 2x2 angle bar and stitch it in where the original flange has rotted off. the frame is only 1/8th, so dont use too heavy a piece. 1/8 th or 3/16 is fine. heavier and its harder to keep from burning thru. to make a bend cut the flange and bend. then weld the cut shut. ive done the job 4 times in my drive way with a borrowed welder and scrap. i drill holes and use 3/8 bolts to help fit the piece. taking that tank out is a PITA.replace the rear brakeline while you're at it. i re hang the tank on universal gas tank straps. i dont bother replacing the skid plate that caused the problem. :D
