Anyone out there with a winch mounting plate handy I need a rough measurement. I'm looking for the height on the up-bend at the front of the plate, where the roller head would mount. Thanks guys.

What winch? You are making a winch plate without a winch to mount to it?

Most newer winches have CAD drawings of the entire winch on their website.

Yup I'm making the bumper before I've got the winch. I need the bumper for inspenction, the winch can come later, but I'd like to build it all in one shot. The depth and width isn't a problem, but I wanted to make sure that I bent the top plate with enough room. I don't have any friends localy to go check out what's what, so I asked. It looks like most have anywhere from a three inch to a six inch up bend, but that could be wrong. I really just need enough room to mount the roller head to.

Too bad you're not in washington, you could HAVE the winch bumper that came off of the Kaiser.

All winches are today designed to fit inside suv's bumper hidden away.
My Pajero T-Max 9,000 lbs fair lead is 11.5 x 5.0 inches (W x H) the wire comes out under drum!
The fair lead needs good support as it is subjected to heavy loads.

Here is a nice bumper for your inspiration!

The bumper is really nice and with the big tires its OK But with a smaller tires it's too low and increases the overhang.

I designed my winch bay to fit a T- Max EW-15000W [OUTBACK]
The T-Max requires 9 inches depth and that is not bad, the overhang is OK with 39.5 inch tires. Cant get it any closer to grill...

The 9 inch depth requires the front lower lip to be cut on a FSJ

The T-Max winch will not fit on on the height in the box I covered it up until I get the winch.

Here is a link to T-Max, but there are other winches....
