Saw it mentioned in a few oil related post, and was wondering what and where it is? Thanks Dennis

In the oil pan, extended down from the block by a pipe that has a foot on it... covered by a screen, oil pickup screen.
Only one I know 'bout.

Is this the tube that the oil pump pulls from? And Im getting ready to replace my oil pump, could I spray the screen out from the top by going through were the pump attaches?

Or if you dont take the pan off you can spray cleaning solvent down through the tube. But that means you have to take the timing cover off though I think.

Yes im getting ready to do the cam gear and oil pump, so should be able to clean it without removing the pan I hope.

Yes you can clean it that way but it will not help much as as soon as you start it up you will suck that trash back in unless you drop your oil pan and clean it out too.so if you are pulling the timing cover drop your pan and clean it and put a new pan gasket on it. it will help with leaks too.

Pull the pan and remove the pickup tube to clean the screen. The screen on the bottom of the pickup is about 80% covered and stuff gets between the screen and this cover. When I did the rebuild in my engine, there were pieces of cam bearing and other assorted metals- the thing sounded like a maraca if you shook it.
