Trans gave up on my Jeep project. Talked to a good reputable shop, does 727s often and he quoted me $725 (high side) to remove rebuild and replace with a 1 year warranty. I am not paying the bill, so I want someone to do the work, not me. That price sound fair? I plan on calling a couple other shops.

If that price includes removing and installing its a great price IMHO. As removing it is half the work with having to pull the t-case and stuff with it.

Yes, that is a good price for a pull/repair/install.

That's about what I paid. Pull it out and put it in yourself and you'll save atleast $200
I don't know about you but my time, patience and knuckles are worth that much at least.

Sorry, but I'm skeptical. Even if the tranny is totally trashed, he won't up the price?
With my luck, the mechanic would remove the tranny and then start piling on the charges by the saying the tranny was beat up worse than he thought.
Be careful.
