I am thinking about swapping out the 360 with a Chevy 350..the truck is a '74 J20 with a T18 4Spd and Dana 20 transfer case...Has anyone had experience with this swap? How much of a job is it and what adapters do I need? I am a little concerned about the lack of aftermarket parts for the 360 and would like to get some real power...thanks

It's only as difficult as your desire or skills allow. I pulled the stock 258 from my '82 J-10 when it was new, years ago, and installed a GM 350 diesel. Just had to make motor mounts, replace the tranny with a Turbo 350, change the transfer case, alter the cross member, shorten the front drive shaft, replace the front axle from a '78 J, install a larger radiator, add some additional leaves to the springs, alter the wiring harness and a few other things. I didn't think it was difficult. But, I haven't seen another one like it. Go ahead and do the swap.

So steamer,
Other than that what you mentioned and some plumbing, that you did not mention,
it was a pure plug and play right ?

I know what you are saying and I can do most anything, I was hoping to hear that this requires only one new mainshaft on the t18 and maybe a new bellhousing...I know someone out there has to have done this before..thanks for the input.
