Yup, the old one is off and gone to that big scrapper in the sky. Hauled the Gladiator bed off for paint yesterday. Hopefully will have that back by next weekend.

On Tequilla's old bed, even the cross members were gone.

Good time to wire brush the frame and get it all pretty.

Yes, that looks more like a short exposure to New England winters.

Agreed, how'd you get that much rust in TX?

It's all Aaron's fault. He left it parked out in the snow.:D j/k Aaron.

Seriously, not a Texas thing. The bed was rusted when Aaron got it and pretty sure it was in bad shape when Tom had it. IIRC the Honcho started out in OK then went to KS.

If there's anybody to blame it's AMC. These double walled beds SUCK. Moisture and debris gets trapped in and after nearly 30 yrs.............well, ya'all saw the pic's.

thats crazy that rotted out that bad my j10 sat outside under a tree for six years and had two inches of dirt and pine needles in the bed and the only bad rust on my bed is the very end under the taillights.

When I bought the truck in 2003 IIRC it was already like that. Destroyed from rot. That truck spent some time in the Beef District in KS. I'm sure piles of straw/hay and fertilizer worked its magic. I was surprised the rest of the truck was very solid just the bed wasted off.
I had another bed for it as well. Still got it actually sitting behind my garage.

Glad to see the ole girl get a much deserved "stay of execution".

Go Janie Go
