Mile marker has a new winch out that is an 8000lber for about 500 on 4wheelparts.com I would trust the mile marker before I would trust some off brand.

has anyone tried the new milemarker electic winch yet? I'm considering it but don't want to risk it being junk for only 400 bucks.

Well from the picture it looke like the fairlead and mounting bracket as well as the winch base mounting plate look a little flimsy.

trentw,io just bought an 8000 lb chicago electric winch. ill let you know how it holds up after i abuse it over the summer smile.gif

the typical answer you get when comparing a chicago, ramsey,or milemarker winch to a warn is "you get what you pay for",but no one has ever been able to tell me exactly why that is so.

i finally decided to just check it out for myself. my reasoning being that ive been pretty happy with my "pyramid" car stereo amps ;) so well see what happens. if it pulls me up hills and lasts the first 3 months of tortureous abuse, ill be pretty happy considering a $279 sale purchas price

It looks like they are trying to use the Bling Bling Factor with the chrome case to draw you away from the thin mounting plate. Winches are great to have, but if it breaks down or worse, you could do serious damage to your rig or yourself.

I just checked my Ramsey and the mounting plate is a full 1/4" thick and the rollers are solid 1 3/4" with a 1/2" pin. They seem pretty stout to me. :D

I wont trust anything but Warn. I have seen to many knockoffs and others brands fail. A few hundred bucks more is money well spent. I have a 8274 on my CJ and I want to throw another one on my J-20.
