I finally got something done on my jeep. This weekend I spent most of my time cleaning, painting, and modifying my np205. I now have a good looking t-case that the rear and front shift independently! And I have front wheel drive! I ended up making the notch at the rear of the rail 3/4 inches long (with an abrupt edge) and the one in the middle about 1 inch long (with a sloped edge). I still can not have the front in low and rear in high or the other way around - which is a good thing. The only difference now is rear neutral. I'm going to be modifying a set of stock dana 18 twin stick shifters for my truck.

Painted but not twin-sticked t-case
I don't have any pics of the modification, but I can give one piece of advice on this modification. Make sure the front range rail is in neutral before you try to remove the other rail.

I modified my 205 before I installed it; VERY nice feature to have, especially in ice/snow where power to a wheel will slide that end off a trail...

It is easy. I only had a problem getting the danged rail out (as I said put the front output in neutral :o ). I'm a bit paranoid about screwing something up, so I used a flap disc on my angle grinder to take a little metal away each time I ground. After about 6 times of reinstalling to see if it worked, I went ahead and measured and ground away. It worked fine. Now I got to make a crossmember to mount the 205. I think I'm going to center it to get same length driveshafts.

I was very lazy. I just left the interlock pills out.
I was giveing it a complete rebuild, and I just didnt feel like possiably screwing up my rail, plus I was too lazy to grind a little then test, grind a little more then test......
All I have to do is mare sure one stick is not all the way forward when the other is all the way back and I am good to go.:D

GM NP205 transfer case Shift Rails
This is a pair of brand new NP205 transfer case shift rails. These are machined to allow full twin stick functionality. Now you won't have the guess work of grinding your existing worn out rails in order to add a twin stick. They are brand NEW rails, not modified stock rails. They will fit 73 and newer passenger side drop NP205 transfer case, commonly the GM and some Dodge versions. They are machined from heat treated alloy steel for years of durable use. They will allow you to shift the front or rear axle into hi, neutral or low range and maintain the safety detents which restrict you from shifting into hi and low at the same time. These are a great addition to my twin stick shifter kit.
Price: $105.00

SHAW AS IF... I have torn into only one and it looked brand new inside. That is what I really love about gear drive cases. Low on fluid... no problem. Little water... no problem. Couple rocks... no problem.
I would suggest that J&G puts the interlock pills back in... what if someone else were to borrow your rig and put them in different gears... not that it would hurt the 205 but they would have a hellova ride.

I dont let anyone drive it but me. But if I did let someone drive it (and thats a big IF) it would not be off road.
Plus I have a couple neat ideas of ways to keep them from being shifted into opposate ranges.

The nice thing about the interlock pills is that if you're trying to shift out the front or rear while offroad, you just grab and yank the handle, not having to worry about placing it precisely in neutral. The detents on the shifters are not really so firm as to prevent you from overshifting into the wrong position, especially if you rig up the shifters like I have....
