The 1st thing you do when you buy an FSJ

Then when you get it running, you.....

Finally got it home. Cruised @80 on the freeway without fuss.

Its a '78 Cherokee S w/ the Levi interior

The guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner a few years ago. The glove box key was lost before it changed hands the 1st time,so I'm curious as to what may be hiding inside

Its a verified Motorcraft 4bbl 360/TH400/1339 QT and pretty much completely original as far as I can tell.....so far. Might have the MM part-time kit in the Quadratrac.

I'm going to do alot of basic maintenance and replace some rubber seals, a few sending units/guages,etc

......before I get to the good stuff:cool:

How much do you know about the history of that WT? It looks a lot like one that lived in Louisiana.

If it is, the owner that I'm thinking of was Phillip Losh.

The seller is going to put me in touch with the original owner. At this point all I know is that the guy I bought it from, bought it from the original owner down in College Station,TX.

Isn't the door key the glovebox key? Has been in the Jeeps I've had, but then again I've rekeyed them all to work with one key, except the glovebox of course!

Let me be the first to say

YOU SUCK!!!

J/K, nice find. I wouldn't worry about the glovebox key too much as most of the boxes can be opened with a little pressure from a screwdriver on the top edge of the door above the lock. Then remove the lock from the box and take it to a locksmith and have a new key made.

That's a slick ride! That picture of the Jeep at the gas pumps brings back lots of fond memories when I daily drove my Wagoneer. What's that deal on the passenger rear above the taillight? Was that for a tire carrier or something?

Looks like there is one on both sides.. Matching antenna mounts?

BTW, I will add to the YOU SUCK! Congrats!

that bracket on the right rear corner is for a swing out tire carrier!
my buddy mike aka"Guadzilla" has one that will fit it i believe...
almost looks like a later 70's chevy blazer bracket if y'all look closely at it..
