So, After the flop, the rear roof is pretty f'ed. I don't feel like doing a body swap or trying to straighten it, so I'm prolly gonna chop it a bit. I did a little photoshop work, any opinions on what looks good?

Well, the 2nd would work if you shave the rear door handles. That might look pretty slick.

Yeah with the 2nd one, I was planning on welding the doors shut and removing the door handles.

The only issue I can see is that I like to have protection for my dog, and enough room for another passenger. I'm thinking I like the 2nd one, and could still keep the back seat..just extend the rollcage out a little more for that protection with the dog back there.

Both designs, I don't plan on closing in the rear.

I like the 2nd or 3rd. The dog is gonna jump anyway.:D

My kid and I got an extra waggy from Utah for parts. Now we have two 89's, except the UT one has a lot of salt rust. He wants to cut and I want to keep the doors, tailgate, and everything else for me, so it looks like he'll just take it all apart and run enough body to tell what it once was.

It'll never see the road after that.

I love to see those FSJ's recycled, they are tru off-road tanks.

1st pic if you get a nice sporty cage, not some ugly square POS though.

3rd if you are not ready to cage it yet..

Not based on mine.
You will appreciate all the lockable storage space you can get.

I like the look similar to the full-size blazers with the top removed. Not sure how sturdy the windshield frame would be.

I like #3, but isn't that back part all smashed on yours? Or do you have a donor wag for the sheet metal?

#3 although it does kinda make you wonder which way is it going

#1 looks cleaner like that but it would look funny with four heads sticking up from the waistline, now if you can fab a bed cover like the ones on pickup trucks for the rear, that would be just cool.

That said, my vote goes for #3.

Put a muscle grille over the tailgate and it'll be more confusing.:D

#1 w/ a cage, keep front door frames, have a full soft top made (TJ style).

Both 1 & 2 are good with a cage and if she's a trail rig. #3 would be better for the street and trail. Really depends on your goal.

here's a thought though. If you decided to build a cage, depending on which you choose, make i where it can be added to or changed in the future. If you go with #3 I'm thinking after it's been wheeled hard it'll turn into #2 or #1. My guess is #1 for ease of cutting. If you plan it out right, you won't have to build your cage but once.

also, keep the windshield if you can. trust me.

I've decided -No- on number 1..We've already got a full choptop like that in the driveway.

Number 2, my plan was to remove the backseat and just cage the front passenger area. I like the look and the extra storage if I remove the rear seat. But upon more thinking, I need a seat for a passenger in the front, and my dog (rear seat). So if I go with option 2, I would extend the cage out a bit over the rear seat.

I think number 3 is the best option, and whatever I choose, it will have a cage inside. Since I'm keeping the rear seat for the dog, I want him to be protected, and I think a cage extending over the rear seat with Chop 2 would look silly. I would eventually close in the rear, but not right away.

As far as the rear being tweaked, and moving that forward..I think if I'm just cutting that angled piece, I can bend it somewhat back into shape to weld it to the forward roof line.

Keep the opinions/ideas coming. I'm still playing around with paper ideas, I'd like something unique.

This Jeep has become a trail rig, maybe SOME street, but not more than 10 or so miles. As far as the cage, I've definetly put that into thought with my drawing design, I don't want to make one twice. And as far as the windshield..Keeping it for sure because of ease. The Blue choptop we already have (full chop) has the stock windshield still, and after 4 or so years, haven't had ANY problems.

personally, i like #3 but without the angle. just cut it crew cab and do a soft back window with snaps... like a wrangler "windjammer" but not as gay.

Not yet, my jeep is in GA, and I'm in FL right now. Might be a little while! I have a few drawings that I'll scan of what the cage will be like and the body work

Dan,
You should definately go with 2 or 3, for one reason only....
#1 looks too much like Casey's rig!!!! lol

But seriously, I vote for 3.

I guess you know which I would pick. :D

With SOA, 4" lift springs, 40"tires on d44s, and his driving style, it's only a matter of time before Joey has to ask the same question. :p

I also vote #3. Hate that you had to flop it.. I was with you on the keep-it-stock-looking bandwagon.

#3 would be the way to go.

Not sure how sturdy the windshield frame would be.

Just try to cut one around the windshield, they are mucho strong enough.
Thought we never would get Casey's cut.

I'd vote for #1 with a cage & custom made soft top. Make it so the sides can be rolled up, or dropped back into place for rain

If you decide to close in the back you can have the back wall/sliding glass of my J-10 cab. I'm going to scrap it. It'll even have a bed light!
