View Full Version : What parts are of value on an 85 waggy?

I've got an 85 waggy, it breaks my heart but I'm planning on parting it out. And would like to do it by the 19th to get what remains out of my driveway.

I'm already planning on pulling the 360, TF727, T-case, drivelines, axles, ignition components and likely radiator.

What else is of any value that's hard to come by but desired enough that I'de actually be able to sell it soon?

Why am I parting it out? Well, it had a water leak and the interior turned in to a biology experiment. It's got some body damage, nothing major, but the "wood paneling" is shot and by the time I started adding up parts to partially restore it I was pushing $8-9,000.

Scrap Metal: $100 We are at $140 per ton here in SOAZ.
I just scrapped Ridgbak's '86  except for the frame/drivetrain.
Gave it all to a local gal toughing it out with the pro's here.
She pulled $220 of the rest.

Bremerton, wa.

Scrap for me is $100/ton. I could get more, but the other yards only want to do business with "their people".

Any little part or trinket that's good will make good Ebay fodder. Never know. Someone might be dying to get that trim piece in the color you got.

Axle shafts, hitch and any good interior parts, bout it.

I forgot.

Any switches, motors, and cables, especially the tailgate switch. I don't think they are available new anymore. If the weatherstripping is in very good shape, yank that too.

The axles are destined for my wife's TJ so they match my YJ. (one set of spares and one wheel pattern, yay)

IIRC the hitch is welded to the frame in a big way, if it's actually of any value beyond scrap I'll torch it off, but something tells me it's not worth it.

You are right. Wagoneer hitches are dime a dozen. Now J-trucks are a diferent story.

I'm interested in woodgrain moulding trim. Will you sell yours?
