I need to have brake work anyway on my '72 Wag, and have been thinking about switching to discs on front. I'm looking without much luck on Google. Anyone have a good source for such a creature?

Thanks in advance for connections or pro/con advice.

I got my rear conversion from here:
http://www.tsmmfg.com/

It was straight forward and worked as intended.

I think he is looking for a front brake conversion kit, not rear.

The friend who replaced my brake pads recently told me I should replace the front rotors. That's why I'm leaning toward sticking to the front, as opposed to converting the rear drums.

As for BJ's, I ordered some replacement lenses for my 72 Wag's front turn signals. They offer a single amber lens for the outside, as opposed to the stock clear outside/amber inside. I went to replace them and something wasn't quite right. Then I realized the screw holes in the replacements didn't line up with the housing! Once bitten, twice shy I suppose.

As I recall someone did a conversion using parts from a Chevy front end. Also a try a company called Stainless Steel Brakes http://www.ssbrakes.com/

Well I upped the photo copies of the DIY article from Four Wheeler magazine to my photo gallery. I found these on the web sometime ago and have just been sitting on them. So here's the link: http://chumley.meltphace.org/main.php?g2_itemId=575

Let me know if I need to make them bigger, or if you can't copy them from the site and I'll e-mail them to you.

You are welcome to return them if you like, on the page you ordered off of, they are listed like this:

>> Fits: 1976-1991
>> Model: All
>> Remade to Factory Specifications

Since you have a 1972, this is why they wouldn't fit...

This is for a 71' Dodge half ton with a Dana 44 front. You could email them and ask if it'll work for yours. They make a set for a M715.

The writeup I remember used 70's Chevy Blazer calipers and backing plates and '78 CJ rotors.

If lug pattern is no concern, then I would swap a later Wagoneer front axle. Might as well do the rear too.

I agree, swap the axle easier and cheaper in the long run. But if you want to keep your 5 on 5.5 then use Ford 1/2 ton outers on a 74 and later FSJ D44 and it will allow you to keep the rear.

I just swaped the front axle on my 72. Lost the D27 and got a D44 w/ disks. You can get a front D44 w/ disks cheap in WA. just my .02

JP mag did a swap a few months back.

I have done the swap on CJs myself using mid '70's chevy front hangers and calipers and using '78-'86 CJ front rotors.

This combination worked on front and rear applications with a little inginuity.

I would think it would also work on early pickups.
