I was thinking of refinancing my house today to go fill up the J10 and take her out for a spin...what is everybody else doing today?

Last year we had a melt down in the server room and worked 6 hours of double time. I am not answering the dayum phone today.

I got called yesterday at noon (usually start work at 3:30) and was told to come in at 11PM instead stay for 12 hours, and do it again Friday and Saturday...

Needless to say, my family trip to the ocean got stomped, and of course the motel room is not refundable since its a holiday. So, my wife went ahead and took the kids without me since they were really looking forward to it and I would be either sleeping or working all weekend anyway..

Just about the time I start to forget why I seperated from active duty, I get reminded in the worst way... :rolleyes2:

BTW, even if you only get 1 hour of holiday pay, thats more than I get, so dont complain too much. I will have put in 72 hours since Monday before my first day off and I wont even get a thanks, much less overtime or holiday pay... However, I have been in long enough to know that it could be worse. At least I am near my family, and not in the desert dodging bombs AGAIN...

Anyway..... Happy Independence Day!! I hope that everyone has a save and happy weekend!!

However, I am kinda looking forward to the "Oops look what happened to me this weekend" thread. :D

I have worked for the same company for 8 plus years. I usually get the day of the holiday off (as in today ) but have to work the weekend and days around it. So no going out of town or partying or such.

I think alot of companies are doing this to their employees nowadays.

I'm right there with ya.:banghead:

Take a break from gutting the master bedroom and bath down to the studs.

Have a few Coronas and some Fajitas with the neighbors. :alc:

I'm racing today. Circle track.
And spending Saturday and Sunday with 3 of my 7 grandchildren, just me and them, camping out.

I just might end the day with less $$ in my pocket

But... with more :fsj: holding down the driveway. That dang driveway keeps trying to escape but I know I'll prevail :D:D:D

we always take the 4th off... i was hoping to also take saturday off too but i looked at the past years numbers and the 5th is always busy for us... so no luck there. oh well, one day on, two days off....

i don't get holiday or overtime pay either, boss promised me a good bonus for this paycheck from all the overtime i did while he was on vacation 2 weeks ago. funny, didn't see a dime extra in my check on tuesday... http://sore4x4.com/forum/images/smiles/bs.gif

....anyway... we wanted to go to the beach but its going to rain all day. the new plans are trying to scrounge up as much free food as i can in the daylight hours. then kick back with my cousins and watch the neighbors set off the illegal stuff (anything over 6ft is banned here). my dog freaks out with the noise so she's getting locked in the laundry room with the radio cranked on.

It's not FSJ, but to stay on topic there's my 70 Wagoneer in the background along with a few CJ's. :D:D

It's getting worse, the neighbors think I'm nuts. Up to 7 Jeeps now :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I installed a charcoal canister in my truck, helped dad get some stuff done on his toy (96 chevy 2500 4x4). Did a little carb tuning. Set off some fire works, burned my thumb somehow. Now calling it a night craving orange juice, but don't have any.

other than driving the wag to and fro :drivin: not much fsj stuff. went to the local firedept pancake breakfast, then spent most of the rest of the day at the next Twp over where my brother is fire chief working the fryer for their annual chicken dinner benefit. Got home late afternoon and spent most of the rest of the day pulling storm damaged limbs from my backyard maple and cutting them up and dragging brush. (OH I did do 1 FSJ thing--used it to drag one big wedged and tangled trunk free). By the time I had that done, took a cleanup bath, sat down in the lazyboy with a cold stout, I was just too tired. I fell asleep checking before the beer was gone, slept right through the town fireworks. I gotta grill 3 dozen burgers for a family reunion cookout today Fortunately I can use the leftover BBQ sauce I made up for the chicken so i don't have to do that too. I'll be happy to get back to work Monday to get some rest.
