66 gauge cluster

I have a 66 J-2000. When I bought it I put power steering on it, put a 304 v-8 in it and a Jeep turbo 400 3 speed auto. It has a 78 model steering column and wiring harness. I have moved a few times, been on active duty for a year and been way to busy, since buying the truck. The original gauge cluster had an 11 plug harness(i think) and the 78 wiring harness has a 12 or 13 plug harness. Will a 78 gauge cluster fit in my truck or will I have to splice some wires?

Youd have to get wiring diagrams and match things up.

I'm curious..how did the later column fit with the old dash? I eyeballed things up and came to the conclusion without hacking alot of the oe dash the column wouldn't fit.
